Were or Where?
Exemple : ‘’They were going to the beach when it started to rain.’’
"Were" and "where" are often mixed up due to their spellings being similar. "Were" is derived from the verb "to be" and is the plural conjugation for this verb in the past simple tense.
Exemple : ‘’I don't know where I'm going!’’
"Where" is an adverb which is used when referring to the location of something and also to a particular point in a process.
