Knife or Nife?
Knife
Exemple : ‘’I have set my place at the table with a knife and fork.’’
The word “knife” is often misspelt as the “k” at the beginning is not pronounced. This silent "k" is a remnant of Old English when both the "k" and the "n" were pronounced. It wasn't until the 16th/17th century when the pronounciation of words beginning in "kn" changed. It is not certain why this changed but the most likely explanation is that it was done for ease of pronounciation.
