Focusing or Focussing?

Exemple : ‘’I was focusing so much on reading my book that I missed my bus.’’

The word "focusing" is most commonly written with only one "s." However, the general rule is that when adding the suffix "ing" on to the end of a word the final consonant should be doubled. Thus, the spelling "focussing" is also acceptable.
