People are often unsure regarding the difference between the prepositions "below" and "beneath." "Below" is a less formal word and is used mainly when something is not directly or literally below something.
Beneath
Exemple : ‘’I sat beneath the tree and ready my book.’’
"Beneath" as a similar meaning but is mainly used in literary works as it is much higher in register.
