Empathy
Exemple : ‘’I feel a lot of empathy because I have gone through the same experience.’’
The emotions of "empathy" and "sympathy" are similar and as a result they are often mixed up. "Empathy" denotes the idea of understanding what someone is going through due to direct personal experience.
Sympathy
Exemple : ‘’When his dog died I felt a lot of sympathy.’’
"Sympathy" is more general and denotes the act of recognising that someone else is upset and trying to provide comfort to the person.
