Atack or Attack ?

Exemple : ‘’I witnissed a violent attack take place at the weekend.’’

The word "attack" is commonly misspelt with only one letter "t." It derives from the French word of the same meaning "attaque" and it is from this spelling that the English retains the use of the double letter "t."
